Temporary Jobs in The UK: Will I find One? My friend Just Lost Hers!

April 27th, 2009 by admin | 4 Comments | Filed in Temporary Jobs London

In the UK today there are lots of temporary jobs still available.  Companies and organisations will always have a need for permanent staff, simply because there are times when they need extra staff to cover for times when staff are off on maternity or paternity cover, staff may be ill, or at holiday times.

Some organisations even require staff just for busy times: so if your business is absolutely frantic at Christmas or Easter, then temporary staff will be taken on to get companies through these very difficult times.  So you shouldn’t assume that there are simply no jobs out there.

People are losing their jobs, but many, many people still have work.  And so there are admin jobs around, you may just have to look that little bit harder to ensure that you can secure a job that really suits your needs.

One of the best ways to get started is actually to register with a recruitment agency, so that you start to get a flavour of the type of jobs that are available.  The range of opportunities may be more limited, but you will probably find work without too much difficulty, if you sign up with a reputable agency that has some good recruitment consultants on board.  They can show you the vacancies they have and also advise on how you can secure a position.

On the whole, the UK media like to talk everything down and certainly media reports do make everyone think that there are no jobs to be had: but there area and all you have to do is to make sure that you are qualified, presentable and have a good attitude when you turn up to interview: so that you are the person who bags the job- not someone else!

Temping For The Holidays

April 26th, 2009 by admin | 4 Comments | Filed in Main Content

In the ‘olden days’ students used to use their summer holidays for travelling, having fun and generally just being lazy. But those days have gone now and many students find that the only way they can afford to continue with their studies is to work during the holidays. But what do you do?

Well the best thing to do is to sign up with a recruitment agency and try to secure a good position. There are some jobs, for example in shops or bars/cafes that may be advertised in the local papers, but many office and secretarial positions are only sent to a recruitment agency, since they know that the agency will have people to do those jobs.

So if you go to an agency, you have so many more options than you would do if you just look in the local paper. It is a lot easier to get a reasonably well paid temping job with an agency than through the papers.

You can also find quite varied positions: so you could find work as a carer, in a hospital, in a nursing home, in an office, or vets and so on. Some agencies may have particularly good links with local employers and so they can attract the best jobs, which is another good reason for choosing them.

Finding work these days is hard for everyone and since unemployment is quite high, many people who want full time permanent employment will actually start looking at any job, even a temporary one. So beat off the competition and go to an agency: they will save you time, get you the most interesting jobs and if you keep a good relationship with them, you can get work again in the future. So whilst all your friends are out doing hard manual labour or cleaning jobs, you can pick up some valuable work experience in an office or some other location that will actually make your CV stronger. How cool is that?

Temporary Work

April 5th, 2009 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Temporary Jobs Help

There are more than 10,000 temporary employment offices around the country, and these agencies provide individual workers and services to thousands of businesses every day. With the cost of employee benefits rising dramatically in the last few years, employers have become far more interested in the temporary sector. How To Get A Job Fast

This is a great place to work for a while as youre learning a new field. Youre paid by the temporary
service and you may work at a job for one day, one week or one month or longer. It all depends on the job and the amount of work associated with it. You may be helping a company get a big mailing program done. Or you may come in to help with office duties due to extended illnesses or vacations. It may be a temporary overload situation that needs workers. Some of the temporary agencies specialise; others are more general and recruit all types of workers. You dont have to be tied down to a regular job.

You dont have the pressure normally associated with fulltime work. You can work locally or you can sign on to travel for free and earn money at the same time! If youve made up your mind to move to a new location, but dont yet have a job, the temporary agency may be the place for you to start while youre looking or working on your education. Dont overlook the value of a temporary agency.
